The insulation needed in metal buildings is flexible fiberglass. The insulation is faced with a vapor retarder having a permeable rating of not greater than 0.1 as tested in accordance with ASTM E96, Desiccant Method.

The composite product shall have a fire hazard classification of 25 (maximum) flame spread index and 50 (maximum) smoke developed index (FHC 25/50) when tested in accordance with ASTM E84 or UL723.

When using high R value systems, the cavity between the exterior metal sheet and the faced fiber glass insulation must be filled with insulation and properly ventilated. Use filler blanket in conformance with ASTM C553, Type 1, Class B-1 to fill the space.
